My Chariot Energy Activation Experience

House with Christmas lights lit up

I made my switch to Chariot Energy in the summer of 2025. June 26th to be exact. I was with Discount Power, who had, at that time, taken over accounts for Pulse Power, with whom I’d entered into a 3-year contract way back in 2022.

It was pretty exciting (as exciting as selecting an energy provider can be, I suppose) doing the research and nailing down what I thought was going to drop my energy costs significantly. I’d finally nailed it down. Chariot Energy for the win! Now, to sign up and get the ball rolling.

Signing up and activating was easy as pie. I just clicked a referral link I found, entered my zip code and continued on the enrollment path (don’t forget to use my Chariot Energy Promo Code (referral code) to get a $50 bill credit!)
You’ll see three plans displayed, initially, but you can show more by clicking the button at the bottom of the page.

After you select your plan (make sure to read the EFL, TOS, YRAC, and Details first!), you’re taken to the personal information collection screen. You’ll enter the usual stuff, like your name, date of birth, and service address. You will also be asked whether you’re switching from another provider or moving into a new home (first time service).

You’ll have two options when it comes to the service start date. You may choose to have it turned on “ASAP”, which will typically take two days, or a “Self-Selected” option, which you may use if you want to make the switch from your existing provider, say, at the end of that billing cycle (that’s what I did).

Now, it’s time to decide whether you want to submit to a soft credit check (utility checks like power, water, and gas do not hurt your actual credit rating) or pay a deposit. I went ahead and authorized the utility check because I’m not interested in letting anyone hold $200 for funsies.

Once you move beyond that screen, you’re either confirming your activation date and locking it in or confirming your activation date and paying your deposit. Either way, you’re done and ready to potentially save some money on your light bill!

All in all, it was as painless an activation process as I’ve ever participated in. Since most of us have “smart meters” now, it’s all done electronically. No need for technicians to come out to your home. No need for you to be home. It just…happens, and you can’t ask for more than that!
